Guest columnist Bob Couch, in his recent guest column “Let’s leave ‘Age of Ignorance’ behind” [Jan. 29], repeats his story about being in the gas chamber at Dachau in 1960, where “thousands” were “gassed.”

This story, previously published in his “Age of Ignorance” guest column on Feb. 27, 2024, was soundly debunked by R.J. Rajballie in a letter to the Gazette on March 6, 2024 [“History: Let’s get it right before we use it”].

In 1984, I was at Dachau. I recall learning that the gas chamber was not used, although the crematoria were. Many of Bob Couch’s other assertions seem suspect, but let’s start by setting the record straight on at least this one.
