EASTHAMPTON — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren paid a visit to Easthampton officials over the weekend, stopping in at a local home for a meet and greet on her way to open a new campaign office in Springfield.

At the private meeting, on Saturday Warren spent about an hour getting to know local elected officials, including members of the City Council, the School Committee and the Easthampton Democratic Committee. Also in attendance were Easthampton Mayor Nicole LaChapelle, Northwestern District Attorney Dave Sullivan, state Rep. Dan Carey and state Sen. John Velis.

“Everyone was excited to get their photo taken with her,” said Easthampton Democratic Committee Chair Nathan Markee. “She was very very warm and friendly.”

Markee said that Warren engaged in a brief Q&A session with those in attendance, during which main topics of conversation were the importance of public education and libraries.

“It was a great event,” said Markee. “Everyone was in high spirits.”

Fall festival seeks bakers

WESTHAMPTON — The town’s Fall Festival is scheduled for Oct. 20, and the Westhampton Council on Aging has permission from the Board of Health to once again sell pies at the event.

Homemade and store bought pies will be accepted on Oct. 19 between 11 a.m. and noon in the church kitchen, or can be dropped off at 10 a.m. at the Council on Aging’s booth at the beginning of the event.

Pies must not require refrigeration.

EASTHAMPTON — The Chamber of Greater Easthampton will host a unique learning experience at Abandoned Building Brewery on Oct. 22. The event, called Ignite: Speed, is designed to empower local professionals with the skills they need to be successful.

There will be “quick hit” presentations focusing on three areas of growth and change in the business landscape: technology, marketing and talent. The program will run from 3 to 7 p.m. and will include a casual dinner from Vegan Pizza Land as well as chances for relationship building.
