Belchertown High School junior Michael Murray erupted for a 5-under round of 67 on the final round of the two-day club championship at Westover Golf Course in Granby last weekend

Murray’s total score of 142 was five shots better than any other competitor, earning him his second consecutive title at Westover. A year ago, he shot a 72 on the final day to become the youngest club champion in the course’s 75-year (now 76-year) history. He followed that up with an even more impressive weekend in 2024 to claim back-to-back crowns at the club.

Murray shot a sensational score of 31 on the front nine, playing holes No. 7, 8 and 9 a whopping 4-under total to give him all the momentum in the world at the turn. He then added one birdie and one bogey on the back nine, cruising into the clubhouse with a 36 – good for an overall score of 67.

The junior has been a key part to the Belchertown High School golf team this fall, helping the Orioles to a 9-2 record including four consecutive wins. Murray’s scoring average on the season is a 37.7, and Belchertown plays its home matches at Cold Spring Country Club.
