EASTHAMPTON — A 22-year-old Easthampton man missing since Tuesday was found dead on Friday afternoon in the Lower Mill Pond.

Rodney Yankson, 22, was found by a man and his son who were fishing in the area at about 4:30 p.m., according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

Yankson was last seen when he left his home near Pleasant Street, not far from the pond, on a black mountain bike at roughly 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Easthampton Police earlier in the week.

Official identification of Yankson and cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The investigation into the death is ongoing and is being conducted jointly by the Easthampton Police Department and the State Police Detective Unit attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
