High schools: Amalia Guerra, Saumya Kulp help Northampton swim team get past Chicopee

Amalia Guerra and Saumya Kulp won two individual events apiece, helping the Northampton girls swimming and diving team to a 90-50 victory over Chicopee in dual meet action on Friday at JFK Middle School.
Guerra touched first in the 100-yard freestyle (55.92 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:07.77), while Kulp was victorious in the 200 IM (2:54.41) and 500 freestyle (7:13.49).
Other individual winners for the Blue Devils included Willa O’Donnell (50 free, 31.75), Caeil Killip-Leonard (diving, 212.95 points), Inez Dole (100 fly, 1:06.08), and Jayda Alejandro (100 breaststroke, 1:31.15).
• In the boys race, Cole Mattison-Gulotta won both the 500 freestyle (5:45.90) and 100 backstroke (1:10.63) to help Northampton pick up a 24-12 victory over the Pacers. Max Hartley also won two events — the 100 free (1:03.21) and 200 IM (2:38.38).
Central 124, Easthampton 54 — Telyn Kelly won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.61) and Kaleigh Hogan took first in the 100 fly (1:26.25) to pace the Eagles on Friday.
Central 124, Easthampton 7 — Max Kruger was second in the 100 freestyle for the Eagles (1:16.03).
Pope Francis 70, Amherst 47 — Mitchell Carey scored 21 points for the Hurricanes, who fell to the Cardinals in Springfield Friday.
Samuel Woodruff scored 10 points while Gael Buford added seven points in the loss.

White went for 38 points, including 24 in the first half for Granby. The Rams led 23-7 after one quarter and 39-16 at halftime. Autumn Sicard and Brenna Moreno added eight points apiece for Granby, and Ellie Szlosek tossed in seven.
PV Christian 38, Smith Academy 28 — Alexa Jagodzinski was the high scorer with six points for the Falcons in a loss on Friday night.
The game was tied at 26 entering the fourth quarter, but PV Christian outscored Smith 12-2 over the final eight minutes. Jane LaVallee and Vivian Higuera added five points apiece.
Lenox 50, Hopkins 16 — The Golden Hawks trailed 35-4 at halftime in a home loss to powerhouse Lenox on Friday at Reed Gymnasium in Hadley.
Olivia Earle led the way with 12 points for Hopkins.
Baystate Academy 39, Smith Voc 34 — The Vikings fell into an early deficit and couldn’t climb all the way back on Friday night.
Sofia Zina’s 10 points powered Smith Voc, and Makayla Tatro followed with nine.
Easthampton 35, Greenfield 23 — Samone Young and Nola Roos each tossed in 12 points for the Eagles, who knocked off the Green Wave in Easthampton Friday.
Addison Barr and Camilla Corsello each added three points for Easthampton.
Alpine skiing
After an issue with the live timing at the first PVIAC alpine ski meet delayed the girls slalom results, they are finally in. On Thursday night, the Hampshire girls team placed four racers inside the top 20 – including Ella Curry’s fifth-place finish in a time of 4 9.18.
Hazel Scully-Henry (ninth, 52.24), Brooke Hockenberry (15th, 54.74) and Dana Warren (16th, 56.10) also turned in solid races for the Raiders.
PVCICS was led by Sarah Fardal (10th, 52.90) and Luo Yi Zhang (26t h , 1:01.27), Amherst’s Amelia Morse finished 11th (53.38) and Maya Phillips grabbed 24th (1:01.09) and Northampton had three racers finish inside the top 30. Simone Pagar (23rd, 60.95), Crystal Eichwald-Hoopes (27th, 1:01.84) and Giselle Ohm (30th, 1:04.91) were those participants.
