Sidney Moss: The importance of working for justice for all

I was impressed with learning about the work of Assistant District Attorney Erin Aiello in the Northwestern district attorney’s office on behalf of animals in the article “Animal advocate leads fight for justice” [Gazette, Sept. 23]. It’s wonderful that our community has such a highly trained and passionate person working to help prevent animal cruelty.
As a retired social worker who worked to protect children from neglectful parents, I was also struck by her observation that animal cruelty and domestic violence are often linked, and how by delivering justice for animals, she’s delivering justice for humans as well.
I believe that there is a universal need for people to recognize that all living beings should be treated respectfully and lovingly and that all life is sacred. Cruelty and injustice to anyone, whether animal or human, or even trees and plants, is a danger to all of us.
