Rachel Wysoker: Headlines matter

Regarding the front-page article “Report: Casinos’ impacts mostly positive” [Gazette, Oct. 25], a more accurate headline would have been “Casinos report: Positive impact for state economy, but negative social and health impacts.”
At a time of greater awareness of the importance of health, all kinds, for the well-being of society, the Gazette’s headline prioritizes the monetary impact over the impact on people and the community. Beyond the headline, I look forward to a day when the human aspects are not relegated to the last few paragraphs on the second page, but are given top priority.
Headlines matter and have an impact, as we see on a daily basis in the larger world.
