I would like to thank Karen Bercovici for her recent guest column “We need to rethink ‘gender-affirming care’ for our children” [Gazette, Nov. 14]. She offers readers a wealth of research with clarity and conviction.
I know it’s hard to believe, but outside of the happy valley most Americans know that sex is not changeable. Why? Because it is obvious. While Bercovici’s research is thorough and her column a welcome relief to read, it shouldn’t be necessary. That which is so glaringly true should not need defending with articles, arguments, scientific research and law … and yet here we are.
It’s worth wondering about how this happened and how we can move forward. For now though, I will be holding the line with Karen, Nancy Mace, Chloe Cole, Kara Dansky, the ladies of WOLF and so many other “women who won’t wheesht.”
