Northampton Community Rowing is holding a fundraiser “Row for the River” to benefit the Connecticut River Conservancy on Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Rowers will launch from the docks at the Mount Holyoke Community boathouse and row approximately eight miles to the Northampton Community Rowing boathouse off Damon Road in Northampton. With more than 50 rowers already signed up, they’ll cumulatively cover the entire distance of the river in one day.

Participants will be rowing from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by a celebration at the Northampton Community Rowing boathouse from noon until 2 p.m. The fundraiser is open to rowers of all ages and abilities.

Rowers will set up a fundraising page and collect pledges. All donations will be matched. The fundraiser has already raised over $20,000 and hopes to raise $40,000 to help fund the Connecticut River Conservancy’s conservation projects, educational programs, and community initiatives on the Connecticut River as well as youth scholarships and equipment for Northampton Community Rowing, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
