GRANBY/SOUTH HADLEY — Police are warning residents to keep their cars locked after three unlocked vehicles were stolen on Saturday night in neighborhoods off Route 116 that runs through Granby and South Hadley.
Granby Police Sgt. Jason Richard said that the stolen cars were part of a series of car break-ins on Jackielyn Circle in Granby and Pearl Street in South Hadley. The perpetrators didn’t take any items from most of the vehicles, but did find car keys in two of the three cars stole, police said. All three cars were recovered in Connecticut, Richard said, but the rest of the details are under investigation.
To avoid break-ins, police ask residents to lock cars and not to leave valuables, especially keys, inside cars. Richards acknowledges that individuals in small towns often leave vehicles unsecured, but this puts residents at risk of losing valuables.
