The Northampton Youth Football Senior Division squad, nicknamed “The Main Event,” opened their season in Quabbin on Sunday. The team dominated in all phases of the game en route to a 26-0 victory.

It was a great day for football in Quabbin, and the Panthers got the better of the day early.

In the PeeWee game, Quabbin won in what was a battle of long touchdowns by both sides.

The Panthers’ Juniors team followed with a 28-0 win, which set the stage for the last game of the day between the two Senior teams.

Following a defensive stop to open the game, Arteyvian “Mop-Mop” Soum-Morrero took a handoff 72 yards to the house on Northampton’s first offensive play from scrimmage. The defensive duo of “Luke and Levi” continued to stifle Quabbin’s offense throughout the day, as Luke Hickson and Levi Moran dominated.

Blue Devils rising star Byamungo “B” Shakuru emerged as a rising star on Sunday, rushing for over 100 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Also contributing at a high clip was the quarterback and running back duo of JB Staples and Brayden Rios. They helped secure the victory with 100 combined yards of total offense.

Northampton will host Warren this Saturday evening at Smith Vocational High School in  Northampton. Games start at 4:30 p.m.
